Add your info below, and get the entire tapping script I use, a diagram of the tapping points and instructions. It’s easy, so don’t worry if you’ve never done it before. It only takes minutes, but the results last a lifetime. Again, don't directly inhale large amounts of smoke, and ensure the sage remains a safe distance from your body. Don't forget to extinguish the sage once you've finished the ritual. Finding a way to unwind and feel better about yourself can be difficult, but sage has been known to help reverse symptoms.
If you sage another time during the day, the energy may be more dense. In the morning is when the "energy of the day " hasn't settled, and I find it to be the best time to complete the process. Sage has a very strong smell and allowing in some air can help with that.
I release any worry from my body and my home.
This is a way to carry your intention from inside your head out into the physical world. This prayer sets the intention of welcoming love and compassion while subsequently repelling that which is not loving. I open this space to divine love, may all the energy that flows through here benefit the heart space. May it hold compassion, nurturance, forgiveness, and truth. Smudging is important before moving into a new home, after a longer period of illness or trauma and in many other situations. For example, after situations that created more negative energy in the house. Smudging is a ritualistic practice of burning sacred plants such as white sage so that the smoke can purposely purify and bless a room. The purpose of this is to create vibrations and dispel or transmute negative energy or an unwanted entity or spirit. You don’t have to say a sage cleansing prayer for negative energy removal.
Saging Your Home
When smudging your home, you can move through your house room-by-room, either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Be intentional rather than random when choosing your direction. I release conditioned patterns, and trust the Universe and my intuition to guide me. Now that the energy in your home has been neutralized, you’ll want to fill it with positivity and love.
That's where the idea of using sage to clear your home comes into play. I recommend saging your home any time you are moving into a new space, for sure. And any time you are experiencing any significant change in your life such as a relationship or job change.
How to Protect Your Furniture When Moving
Once it’s completely put out, store it in a safe, dry place out of the sun. Some recommend working in a clockwise direction around your home, ending back where you started, especially for spiritual purposes. In this instance, direct sage smoke over all surfaces and spaces in your home or living area. It’s also important to leave a window open before, during, and after cleansing. Distinct from cleansing, smudging has been well established as a Native American cultural or tribal practice, although it isn’t practiced by all groups. If not, ask yourself why you may not have been successful.
Having a piece of sage burning in the kitchen after dinner or in the bathroom can work double to make a peaceful and smell-good space. I fully believe in using sage to cleanse your house. I think this is a wonderful cleansing ritual and when I do it, everything about my space and my body feels ‘lighter’. I feel at peace, joyful, safe, energized, creative, and able to deeply rest.
Can I Sage Myself?
Have a heat-proof container ready to catch the ashes of the sage bundle. Allow enough space and time for the ritual so you don’t feel rushed. If possible, meditate for at least five minutes to calm your mind and heart.
Then, keeping the sage stick at an arm's length distance away from you, work your way up from your feet. Repeat your mantra as you go, envisioning the smoke is clearing you of any and all lingering negativity. Once you're ready to extinguish a sage smudge stick, press the burning tip firmly into your fireproof vessel, dirt, or sand until the smoke no longer rises. To avoid cultural appropriation, it's something you should always be doing with intention, reverence, and deep gratitude to those who did it before you.
Choosing to engage in ritual can be the beginning of your change in mindset. Throwing away good or valuable items just because they have been damaged is not a good idea. However, when it comes to minimizing negative energy, it’s important to fix broken objects quickly. Dealing with broken items in your room on a regular basis can make you anxious and restless. For instance, if you find frankincense helps guide your mind, choose light floral scents over heavier earthy scents like amber and sandalwood.
Burn Sage on a full moon with the intention of completion and releasing what is blocking you from manifesting. Burn Sage on a new moon with the intention of new beginnings and inviting in what you want to manifest. Yes, you can – as long as they stand still long enough! Sage certain items in your house that you are constantly using or items that are people are handling a lot.
